Country: France

NGO: FRC (Fédération pour la Recherche sur le Cerveau)

Theme: Fighting neurodegenerative diseases

Context

The France Alzheimer Association, the French Foundation for Research on Epilepsy, the France Parkinson’s Association, the Association for Research on Multiple Sclerosis, the Association for Lateral Amyotrophic Sclerosis, France Huntington, Aramise (MSA) and France AVC (strokes) have joined forces as a federation to create a new dynamic in brain research. Together they represent more than 1.5 million patients, and nearly 10% of the French population has to face the disease and its consequences.

Partnership

Sanofi-aventis has been a partner to the FRC and to the annual Neurodon campaign since it began in 2000. In addition to financial support to the FRC, the Group encourages its current and retired employees to work for the Neurodon campaign. Volunteers help collect funds beside general public.

In 2007, a total of 204,761€ were collected through public generosity to fund new research programs, in addition to the 36 projects already funded.

At the beginning of 2008, a preview of the film "The girl and the wolves" was organized in several cities of Ile-de-France to allow the employees to mobilize for the research on the brain.
