Women account for half of the global population and enjoy a continuous growth of their employment rate all around the world. At sanofi-aventis, women account for: - 46% of the workforce
- 45% of the managers
- 19% of the Group Managing Committee
- 13% of the positions with high level of operational responsibilities are held by women
• 14% of the Research and Development sites headmasters
• 11% of the general managers
• 15% of the plants directors - 18% of the expatriates
Our goal
- Developing equality at all levels of the organisation and through all the different positions, in the countries where a global equality exists within the workforce.
- Promoting workforce diversity in all other countries.
Our approach
- To provide the same level of training to our male and female employees.
- To give an equivalent income.
- To improve work life balance for all of our employees: flexitime/ part time work/ meetings organisation.
- To carefully focus on female employees during talent reviews and succession plans.
- To promote women employment on traditionally masculine positions.
- To encourage female managers’ involvement in group development programs.
Action plans adapted in each country
- Japan: “diversity and gender equity”session included in manager training program.
- Germany: Top Arbeitgeber Award :the first rank in the category “Work-Life Balance” is the deserved award showing that we have reinforced since 10 years our activities in the area of “Compatibility of Family and Job” ( especially program to support parental leave, before and after the birth of a child).
- South Africa: for the second year in a row, sanofi-aventis appears on the list of "best employers" in the country and is recognized for its policy in support of women.
- France:
- Group sponsorship of the"Trajectoires HEC au féminin"(HEC Business School Women’s Excelling in their Career) Prize, to raise awareness among leaders about the "glass ceiling" phenomenon;
- gender equality negotiations with implementation of detailed indicators
- Salary gaps reduction program
- signature of the “Diversity charter”,
- implementation of anonymous CV procedure on its website in order to guarantee equal opportunity for all applicants.
- Australia: “Family Friendly Initiatives” is a policy to offer flexible working hours and parental leave for men and women.
- USA: women employees network “WISE” - Women Inspiring sanofi-aventis Excellence.
