Paroxysmal clinical manifestation connected to a sudden, simultaneous and abnormally intense activation of a large number of neurons (brain cells) in a very varied way depending on the part of the brain that is affected.

When the epileptic seizures are repeated spontaneously for the same patient, this is known as  "epilepsy".
