Phenomenon linked to the formation of a blood clot in a vessel.

This is a normal phenomenon that stops bleeding by sealing the gap in the case of a wound to a vessel.

It may arise in pathological conditions:

in the arteries, in the case of lesions in the internal wall by atherosclerosis, leading to ischemic vascular accidents.
in the veins, in the case of a slowing of the blood circulation, leading to deep venous thromboses.
