Health, Safety & Environment

HSE logo Health, Safety and Environment: the key words in sanofi-aventis' policy to expand its activities in promoting good health, the well-being of its employees and collaborators, and awareness of environmental issues!

Scientific expertise in the promotion of health

Sanofi-aventis constantly monitors the effect of its products on the health of its employees. Biological and chemical risks are analyzed by two Committees of experts in the field: the Tribio Committee for biological products and the Covalis Committee for chemical substances.

Ongoing improvement in safety performance

Training and prevention are the keys to improving safety performance at the Group. Reducing both the frequency and the seriousness of accidents at work which involve permanent staff, temporary employees or outside service providers is sanofi-aventis' primary objective.

The decreasing frequency of work-related incidents is showing that the HSE policy being implemented is proving genuinely effective in the management of occupational hazards.

Identifying risks : our core concern

To protect and guarantee the health and safety of its employees and collaborators, sanofi-aventis has established a program to identify and control risks. All its R&D and manufacturing projects are monitored by Evaluation Committees made up of experts in the relevant fields, and by the Group's Process Safety Laboratory.

The company's policy of reducing occupational risks depends on the involvement of the managerial staff and on individual responsibility, both essential for ongoing improvement. In the context of this policy, PASS - the HSE Annual Action Plan - brings together all the key staff from all the sites.

Protecting the environment

Respect for Nature is the core to sanofi-aventis' industrial policy. To reduce the impact of business activities on the environment, the Group focuses its efforts on:

  • minimizing its consumption of natural resources
  • manufacturing cleanly
  • reducing and recycling waste

This global approach is underpinned by ISO 14001 Certification which is currently in the pipeline.
