Energy consumption

Energy is used for manufacturing processes, air conditioning of workshops, maintaining storage temperatures, producing sterile water, treating water before it is released into the environment, and for atmospheric emission treatment facilities. Such applications require a constantly growing utilization of energy to guarantee the best products quality and to preserve the environment.

In our commitment to reduce energy usage, several programs have been developed to optimize energy sources and operations at many facilities, in particular at Saint-Aubin, Fawdon, Ambarès, and Vitry, where the boiler rooms have been modernized, and in Aramon, where a heater will recover energy produced by incineration of waste as of 2006.

Energy is purchased in the form of electricity, natural gas, fuel and steam. Since 2004 coal is no longer used. In Frankfurt, brine purchased from an outside company is taken into account according to its energy potential.
