Our humanitarian sponsorship around the worldDedicated to the better distribution of health for all and a more supportive world. As an extension of its work as a pharmaceutical company, sanofi-aventis has been dedicated to humanitarian sponsorship for the past 15 years, with the goal of contributing together with its civil society partners to reducing inequalities and ensuring that health care is more easily available for everyone.
Our programs in the worldCommitting to development programs Our humanitarian sponsorship actions illustrate the entire range of Group values. They collectively provide a map of the heart of a rather unusual enterprise. One that attempts to bind its business imperatives to an awareness of its social responsibility, particularly towards the world’s most vulnerable populations. Solidarity is one of the founding values of sanofi-aventis' corporate culture. In addition to financial sponsorship, the Group also shares its scientific, technical and human skills with its partners at the interface of three key areas close to its business activities: health, solidarity and children. The Humanitarian Sponsorship Department coordinates some fifty programs in over 40 countries representing a commitment of nearly €40 million in 2006, with humanitarian sponsorship actions carried out directly by affiliates in humanitarian emergencies and development projects. The programs under way around the world cover prevention, education, health and access to care, support for the disabled, and the fight against mistreatment, poverty and exclusion. These actions may target humanitarian emergencies situations, but above all they form part of a long term agenda, aimed at providing sustainable support to the world's most vulnerable populations. A humanitarian Sponsorship Charter codifies the Group's policy in this area and acts as a guide to actions carried out around the world. The success of all these actions depends on the complementary work of our partners (NGOs, Hospitals, Health Authorities and others) who unite their skills to form a powerful lever for creativity and innovation in the populations concerned. It is also assured by the involvement of Group employees around the world, who contribute skills, carry out voluntary work, or make financial donations with are matched by the company. |
